Graduate Assistant, Mathematics
Intern Teacher of Mathematics

Workload: 100% – includes evening and weekend work, as required.
Start date: 1 August 2025

The position will suit candidates who are interested in teaching and enjoy the challenge of working with bright and inquisitive international students, aged 13 – 19 (grades 7 to 12).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with highly experienced Mathematics teachers to co-teach engaging lessons in the IB Diploma and iGCSE Math programs, providing hands-on experience in an international classroom setting.
  • Gain valuable experience in lesson planning, IB Diploma curriculum development, and assessment design, while contributing fresh ideas to the Mathematics Department.
  • Work closely with students in small groups or one-on-one, supporting their individual learning needs and helping them overcome challenges in understanding mathematical concepts.
  • Take the lead in organizing exciting co-curricular math activities, such as clubs, competitions, and workshops, fostering creativity and a passion for Mathematics outside the classroom.
  • Play an active role in cultivating a dynamic and innovative learning environment that inspires students from diverse backgrounds to develop a love for Mathematics.

Requirements Required Desirable
Qualifications/​Knowledge Degree level qualification in relevant area. Teaching and/​or coaching qualifications from national or regional authorities.
Right to work in Switzerland Right to work in Switzerland either through in the International Trainee Exchange Agreement (see link for regulations for young professionals and citizens of Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Indonesian, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Ukraine, USA), OR as citizens of Switzerland, EU/EFTA. Swiss, EU or EFTA citizenship.
Experience Experience working with young people. You can evidence that you take initiative lead young people. Experience of working in education, in schools and/​or co-curricular roles.
Skills High level of competency in the English language. Confident and warm presentation skills. Competency in the German or Italian languages. Multilingual skills in other languages are an advantage.
Personal competencies and qualities Able to evidence ability to work pragmatically, flexibly, calm under pressure and in an environment of safeguarding and confidentiality. Empathy for working in an intercultural environment. Experience of organizing events and trips.
